Last Friday, our Year 6 students received the sacrament of Confirmation, after many months of preparation. Joining the candidates were their sponsors, families, staff and wider members of the St Paul’s community. The candidates were impressive with their
knowledge of, respect for and participation in this special sacrament, which calls on them to receive the Holy Spirit and renew their baptismal promises.
We thank their teachers Mrs Simpson, Miss Moore, Mr Brohman, Mrs Tasker, Mrs Rivellese and Mr Joe Keane (Religious Education Leader) for the work that they put into preparing the students and the thoughtful contributions they made to make this such a special occasion. We also thank the sponsors for being excellent supporters of the candidates as they progress along their journey of faith. Thanks must also be given to the ever supportive Fr Raymond and Bishop Terence Curtin for making the evening so special and memorable for the students.
Many months of preparation went into having the Confirmation students ready for this occasion. This included a visit from Bishop Curtin who spoke to the students about the significance and meaning of the sacrament. Other activities included a retreat day at the Mary McKillop Heritage Centre in East Melbourne as well as a Confirmation family evening which was a special time for the students and their families. Our school community will continue to support the Confirmation candidates through prayer and well wishes.
