Year 3/4 Incursion with Uncle Bill, Jnr
St Paul’s was honoured with a visit from Uncle Bill, Jnr, a Wurundjeri Elder and cultural educator, who spoke about Indigenous Culture. Our morning assembly commenced with a fantastic start with Bill performing a Welcome to Country to our school community. His passion for sharing his extensive cultural knowledge with us was evident. He then commenced workshops with our Year 3/4 students whose term enquiry is based on The Dreamtime. This included speaking to the children about the history of his people and our land. He also explained the many different Aboriginal languages, traditional roles and what some animals symbolize in Aboriginal art and stories. This was followed by a dance the children participated in. As result of their learning this term, the Year 3/4’s have been working on an Acknowledgement To Country to say before our future school gatherings and this will be presented at our next school assembly.
St Paul’s was thrilled to learn that our visit from Uncle Bill was featured in the News and Events of the Catholic Education Melbourne website. Read more here.
