We were so impressed by the students enthusiasm & standard of entries, which made judging very difficult! The creativity & talent was outstanding & we are super proud of every piece of work. Our dynamic Senior teacher team are setting up their Year 6 students for success with a range of practical & wellbeing activities and experiences to help prepare them for high school transition next year. A Year 7 Up-skilling Day was the answer! 💡 Students challenged themselves with a range of activities including learning to read & organise a timetable; planning transport to high school, creating personal timetables, to developing coping strategies for the transition to high school ahead. Teachers will continue to work with our senior cohort on further transition activities for the remainder of the semester as the school year flys by.✨

As part of their inquiry ‘Water on the Move’ & during World Water week, our year 3/4 students explored their community, walking along the Merri Creek to observe the state of the local waterway. Students had the opportunity of testing a sample of creek water which revealed high levels of chlorine and other chemicals that make it undrinkable. The students findings was that water quality can’t be judged by appearance alone, and it’s important to use scientific testing when learning about our environment. What great learning & discoveries were made in their outdoor classroom! 💦

Students were treated to a special experience - an interactive workshop with the incredibly talented Chris Kennett. ✨
Chris spoke to the students about his creative practice as well as giving them the opportunity to draw their own unique character - space cats & flying monkeys! His sincerity, patience & interest in the children’s illustrations & questions was boundless & he certainly inspired our students in their future adventures! Our Prep - Year 2 students had a fun, learning exp

Our Prep - Year 2 students had a fun, learning experience during their recent Inquiry unit Then & Now. During their ‘Past in our Class’ incursion, the students learnt what school was like in the 1800’s with a special visitor from the @nationaltrustvic educational program. Combining historical knowledge & skills, the children experienced writing with ink pens & learning about school & home life in a different era. They all agreed school was a lot more stricter back then! Thank you Mrs Sargood for making history happen in our classroom!

Our Prep students have marked a major milestone - 100 days of learning and growth!✨
To celebrate, the children came to school in a designer original! A personally created 100 theme
t-shirt made with their family, whilst exploring the number 100 as part of the experience. After a special parade to mark the milestone, students enjoyed a fun afternoon of reflection & learning activities.

This year’s theme “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy” celebrates & honours both the achievements of the past & the bright future ahead.

At St Paul’s PS, we love celebrating every step of our students’ learning journey & this week was a special milestone for our Prep students who reached a significant literacy milestone! 🎉
Over the past two terms, the children have been immersed in the world of Milo’s Birthday Surprise which introduces the alphabet through a cast of characters invited to Milo’s birthday party. 🥳 This week’s celebration marked their successful completion of learning all the sounds of the alphabet, a key foundation in their reading development. Dressed as characters and letters from the book, the children were proudly cheered on by our school community, followed by a letter scavenger hunt and party food, of course! Congratulations to our prep students! We look forward to celebrating your future learning advertures!✨

Celebrating the feast day of St Paul in faith and in action! From a joyful liturgy & introduction by our Mini Vinnies students - we highlighted the message of St Paul; kindness & faith. One of the highlights of the day were our Kindness Awards presented to nominated children. We’re so proud of all our St Paul’s children for demonstrating small acts of kindness in their everyday actions at school. Our Feast day always has a focus on social justice. This year St Vincent de Paul’s youth team, Rob & Tayla, spoke to our children about the work they do in the community to help others. We launched the Vinnies Winter Appeal with children having a sleep out to shine a spotlight on the issue of homelessness. Inspired by the campaign, ‘Sleep at the G’, students participated in a very small experience of “sleeping rough” - bringing their sleeping bags/ blanket to school for a movie afternoon. We raised money and awareness about homelessness - thank you to families for your generous donations. What a special day - a celebration of faith, fun, learning & community! 🩵

This week has been a memorable time of connection & reflection for our Year 4 students who have been preparing for their First Communion. Today, the Year 3/4 children had a lesson in baking bread, creating a special moment that connected beautifully to their learning about the Eucharist. As they made and shared the bread together, the children explored how the Eucharist brings us closer as a family & community. We especially remember our Year 4 students who will be receiving the sacrament of Eucharist on Sunday. We keep them in our prayers as they prepare for this joyful & important step in their faith journey✝️

Last week two of our senior students D and L proudly represented St Paul’s PS in the Cross Country Primary School Division. Both ran their personal best with D qualifying for the next round - the Combined Primary & Secondary Region Cross Country! We have also received recent news that L has made it through to the second stage of Victorian Primary School Soccer State Team. We are super proud of the sports talent coming from St Paul’s! A day of fun, colour, culture & joy can only describe St Paul’s Italian Day! Signora Tina planned a fantastico day of celebration and all things italiano! Students participated in a variety of activities starting with a school parade followed by bocce, tombola & scope to name a few, followed by a performance by Spectacular Spettacolo, an interactive musical theatre production. After all that activity, pizza e gelato were deserved! Today’s activities not only enriched our students knowledge of Italian culture - it resulted in a spettacolure day! Thank you to our students for embracing the day with such enthusiasm & families for your tremendous support with the amazing dress ups. A shout out to our parent helpers who organised lunch. Well done to our Year 3/4 students who shared their learning on the meaning and importance of the Sacrament of Eucharist at this week’s school assembly. Each student presented their part with confidence & it was wonderful to see their teamwork in action. The students presented a skit of the Last Supper, shared a poem about what the Eucharist means to them, played a fun quiz, and offered prayers for their peers who are preparing to receive their First Holy Communion later this month.
Each class presents their learning at our weekly school assembly which enhances their public speaking skills, confidence & teamwork as well connecting with our wider school community. 👏
